Constructive dialogue with the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Local Government and Administration Committee

Within the framework of the implementation of the project "Promoting the Development of the Legal Framework for Decentralisation in Libya", which is implemented under the umbrella of the SHARP project aimed at unifying efforts to strengthen the rule of law in the country, a fruitful dialogue was held with the respected MP Mr. Abdulwahab Zulia, Chairman of the Administration and Local Government Committee of the House of Representatives. The meeting discussed legislation related to local government and the need to update it in order to promote decentralisation and achieve greater efficiency in the management of local affairs. The two parties reviewed the existing challenges and opportunities to develop the legal framework supporting local governance, in a way that contributes to empowering municipal councils and improving their performance. The meeting underscores the importance of institutional cooperation between legislative bodies and governance support organisations to build a legal system that is more responsive to the needs of citizens
