Workshop in Benghazi discusses reforming the Local Administration Law to promote decentralisation in Libya

Benghazi, 19 August 2023 - The National Organisation for Governance and Local Development Support (NOLDS) organised a workshop on "Reforming the Legal Framework for Decentralisation in Libya" in Benghazi. Local governance experts, lawyers, mayors of municipalities, and civil society representatives participated in the workshop. The workshop aimed to assess the Local Administration Law No. 59 of 2012 and identify its challenges and weaknesses. It included discussions on administrative organisation, local finance, transparency, and community participation. The workshop concluded with recommendations that will be presented to the legislative authorities.
