Workshop in Wadi Ataba promotes women and youth participation in local planning

On Sunday, 31 July 2022, a workshop was held at Wadi Ataba Municipality, led by Mr. Abu Bakr Al-Sanhaji, at the conclusion of advocacy initiatives for the recommendations of a study on supporting community participation and cooperation, under the supervision of the German organisation DRI. Participants discussed ways to enhance the role of women and youth in public policy planning, in the presence of Municipal Council member Abdullah Al-Mahdi Al-Saidi, and representatives of civil security and local organisations. The meeting emphasised the importance of the municipality adopting the principle of participation in its future plans, opening the way for influential women and youth initiatives. The workshop was implemented as part of the "Connect" programme, in partnership with DRI, and with the support of the European Union and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
